Help Our Kids Build More than a Boat

The Buffalo Maritime Center’s Hand-to-Hand Program helps students from Buffalo schools practice STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math) Principles and life skills by building a wooden boat from scratch.

One of the most magical moments in our Hand-to-Hand Program is the day they launch their hand-made boats in Hoyt Lake in Delaware Park. We’re excited to share a brand new video about BMC’s Hand-to-Hand Program and this inspiring day with you, our supporters and friends. Click below to check it out!

Students like Tyler, Valkris, Oumer, and Iyanah work from September to May to get to the moment where they row a wooden boat they’ve built with their own hands. Over the course of the year, these students learn so much more than how to use tools. This can be a life-changing experience for the students and our volunteer mentors.

This #GivingTuesday, we’re asking for your support. From building a toolbox to launching a St. Ayles Skiff, your donation will provide an opportunity for these students to learn skills they will use throughout their lifetime.

Your donation will enable one student to . . .

  • Build their own personal toolbox – $50
  • Shape and build a paddle – $75
  • Build a thwart for their Olmsted Skiff – $100
  • Hang a plank on their St. Ayles Skiff – $200
  • Complete and launch a 6-Hour Canoe – $500
  • Complete and launch an Olmsted Skiff – $1000

We need $10,000 by December 31st for our Hand-to-Hand Program, and this #GivingTuesday is going to kick it all off. Please help these students reach their goals.

All donors will be recognized in our Hand-to-Hand Classroom. Please click on the button above to donate, and THANK YOU for your support!

Sincerely,

Brian Trzeciak
Executive Director
