The Buffalo Maritime Center is proud to announce the Canal Boat Commencement Weekend: Two Events That Will Initiate the Erie Canal Packet Boat Project at the newly constructed Longshed at Canalside in Buffalo.
The Canal Boat Commencement Weekend is made up of a First Look and the Public Opening of the Longshed that will mark the official beginning of Buffalo Maritime Center’s historic construction of the Erie Canal Packet Boat, “Seneca Chief.” Throughout the project, we are inviting the public to be a part of history by observing and helping to build a replica of this 73’ long vessel, the very boat that Gov. DeWitt Clinton traveled on in 1825 to open the Erie Canal.
will take place on Friday, October 16th from 5 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. There are 120 time-tickets available, and the evening will be broken up into three sessions. The sessions will be at 5 p.m., 6:15 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $75 each and you can choose which session you’d like to attend. All proceeds from this event go toward the Buffalo Maritime Center and its educational programs.
